Frequently asked questions

At The Gorilla Firm, we know that investing in a bespoke bike is a big decision — and it often comes with a lot of questions. From frame options and custom builds to timelines, fittings, and aftercare, we’ve put together this FAQ to guide you through the process.

If there’s something you’re still unsure about, just get in touch — we’re always happy to talk bikes.

What kind of bikes do you build and sell?

We specialise in road, gravel and time-trial/triathlon bikes.

Do you only sell custom bikes?

Not just custom, we have a wide selection of ready to ride bikes, we can offer a bike fit and some custom setup for these within reason.

Can I have a completely bespoke ‘to me’ bike?

What brands do you work with?

Do you do Bike Fitting?

Yes, we carry out bike fittings both for custom built bikes and through the winter months we can carry out ‘retro fits’ to optimise your current bike. Take a look at our GURU fit system.

How much do your bikes cost?

Whilst we specialise in custom builds and high end road/gravel/TT bikes, we do have a selection of ride ready bikes that start from as little as £3000.

Do you take cycle to work vouchers?

We accept vouchers from the following cycle to work schemes: cyclescheme.co.uk, Green Commute Initiative, GoGeta, Bike2Work.

Do you do servicing and repairs?

We take great pride in the quality of our servicing and our attention to detail. We offer a wide range of services which you can find on our WORKSHOP page.

Do you offer part-exchange?

We can offer part-ex via a third party who will provide a valuation for your bike. If accepted, they will purchase your bike from you and pay us the funds to put towards a new purchase.

Do you buy/sell second-hand bikes?

Not currently.

What’s your Custom Build process?

Consultation & Bike Fit Every great custom bike starts with understanding you—the rider. We discuss your goals, experience, and how you’ll use your bike, then carry out a full GURU bike fit. This real-time, computer-controlled system optimizes your riding position for maximum comfort and performance.
Tailoring your Build Together, we choose the right make/model of frame and components to meet your requirements. Whether it’s a stock frame or a bespoke, hand-built design with custom geometry and paint, we ensure every detail aligns with your vision.
Order Confirmation Custom builds aren’t off-the-shelf. We finalize your order, confirm availability and lead times, and ensure a transparent process so expectations are met.
Precision Build Once all components have arrived, we assemble your bike with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring a high-performance ride tailored to you. When complete, we arrange collection at your convenience.
Collection When you pick up your bike, we walk you through every aspect—torque settings, care, maintenance, warranty, and bedding in—so you get the best from your ride.
First Service After about six weeks, we bring you back for a thorough check-up to ensure your bike is performing at its best. We’re here for the long haul, supporting you every step of the way.

The GURU Fit System

We currently offer THE GURU FIT SYSTEM™ enabling cyclists of all ages and experience levels to find the perfect bike and/or riding position to match their personal preferences & geometry. You can read more and see our video here.
